Softside style waterbed Q & AQ "What is a softside style water bed?" A This is the newest and most popular style of waterbed. To look at the bed it looks just like a conventional mattress set. The mattress cover unzips to reveal the inner water chamber. Q "Is there an advantage to this type of water bed"? A Yes several, 1.) Softside style water beds are made the same size as conventional mattresses which means you can use conventional linens and headboards. No need to shop for special size sheets or mattress pads. 2.) Because it does not have the surrounding wood frame that a hardside water bed does, it is much easier to get in and out of the bed than a hardside water bed. 3.) Easy to change linens, bed making is just like making a conventional mattress. 4.) Water chamber is protected inside the quilted mattress cover and cannot be accidentally punctured. 5.) Blends with existing bedroom furniture. It looks just like any conventional mattress set. Q " Do I have choices of water mattress inserts?" A Yes, you can choose from a variety of inserts ranging from full motion to semi wave, waveless and ultra waveless. Q "What do you mean by semi wave, waveless etc.? A The degree of motion is determined by the insert you choose. A plain full motion insert has no internal baffling and motion subsides in approx. 15 to 20 seconds. For controlled motion there is baffling built into the insert that controls the degree of motion. The more built in baffling, the less motion. With an ultra waveless mattress the motion subsides in about 1 to 2 seconds upon lying the bed. Q "Does this type of water bed still need a heater"? A Yes, we highly recommend the benefits of temperature control. All of our water bed systems include temperature control.

Background and benefits of waterbed sleep
Water beds have been around a very long time, actually ancient Persians slept on water filled goat skins and then water beds made a big comeback in the '1960's but with updated materials - no goatskins this time around! Well they're making another comeback today due to people discovering and rediscovering the deep restorative sleep that water beds provide. Water beds are unmatched in their ability to reduce pressure points that cause tossing and turning. Tossing and turning throughout the night prevents you from getting the restorative sleep you need - better sleep equals a healthier you.
The first medical use of water beds was during World War II and was used in the treatment of burn victims. The reduced pressure on the patient lessened pain and promoted faster healing due to increased circulation. Did you know water beds are also known to benefit people suffering from dust and dust mite allergies? The vinyl surface of the water mattress can be easily cleaned making it a very sanitary surface on which to sleep. Water beds also help alleviate painful sleep in people suffering from arthritis and/or fibromyalgia by greatly reducing pressure points and the gentle warmth that is provided by the temperature control unit. If you'd rather have a cool nights sleep, just turn down the dial to your desired temperature, (of course room temperature is as low as it can go).
Water beds provide a sense of semi-weightlessness and is very relaxing. many people with insomnia find they tend to sleep longer on water beds.
Of course you don't have to have a medical condition to enjoy the natural soothing comfort of a water bed.
